The black wire from the back of the alternator has a single female connector that plugs over a male connector attached to the engine block just forward and high of the oil filter. I found the wire disconnected while working on other things and got curious about the connection's unusual design. The female end of the plug snaps onto the male end that's on the block. The plastic female end of the plug surrounding it's wire end will unsnap allowing it to be opened. And it's this end, the female end that seems to be filled with a thick pliable material, like thickened wheel bearing grease. What is this material, a dielectric grease? A water seal? Should this material also be found in the male plug end, too?
