odometer stopped working 200 1988

hi,

has anyone ever tried to fix/replacee the odometer without taking apart the dash? i heard there is a relay at the back of the car that may have failed, which would explain why my odometer stopped working. i'm wondering if that's worth a try.

i'm trying to avoid pulling the dash apart and if anybody has insight on this, i'd appreciate it.
