I had to pull the door panel to put the glass back into the window regulator channel and discovered that the back of the door panel was totally shot - crumbling, held by the interior covers. I applied the basic fix which worked well - 9 oz. woven fiberglass, wetted out with good epoxy (West) and then, since I was working in a cold, I helped it all cure by warming up the laminate with a small heat gun. I don't think I'd be able to reinstall the panel without this fix. I laid the glass right over the openings for the clips and fixtures and when it cured just worked them open to shape with a knife and dremmel tool. The dark really damages portion of the panel was so porous, it just kept on absorbing the epoxy but is solid after cure.
Btw, I happen to have a 3 foot clamp which was very helpful in pushing the glass back into the regulator channel. Just had to wiggle the channel a bit as I was torquing the clamp.
