Hi all,
I'm busy building up my list of things to look for next time I go to the Pick and Pull...
My car is the '93 245.
The rear sags a little (ok I keep a bunch of stuff in there- but it's still pretty soft) and my thinking is perhaps some new springs are in order, but it likely also needs new shocks. The springs would maybe be a 'hold me over' until it's time for shocks. Or if I find a good set of shocks to pull, I'd do the whole deal. For ~$50 I'd probably be able to get both springs and shocks-which makes me think it's worth going for...
When I'm in the junkyard how can I assess the quality/worthwhileness of springs and shocks? How can I tell if springs are overload springs or not- is there a p/n somewhere?
There are not many 240's in my favorite junkyard, but plenty of 740's...are the springs/shocks from the 740's compatible with the 240's? (maybe not b/c of IRS vs live axle?)
As far as I know the springs in my wagon are standard wagon springs...never really looked into it. for those who have experience with overload springs, what handling differences and other differences do you notice? Is it a good swap, or should I stick with the standard springs?
Thanks all
God Bless,
Koos
