About two years ago, in an effort to quieten a few squeaks in the front end of our 93 940, I did a 100% rebuild of the front suspension. Immediately, we drove the car for 10 hours on a trip and had clicking, groaning, squeaking amplified over what it had been. The "new" TRW ball joints failed at 2000 miles so in with another set and out with the struts for a check up and new top bearings (I had greased the OEM units). Today, I decided to find out what was making the racket so I swapped out the struts from the 780 into the 940 and took it for a test run. Other than more noise, the car rides better with the 780 struts, and I am now wondering if a thorough soaking with silicone lube wouldn't quieten it down. Anyone else have a solution?
Thanks,
