HELP! Dash Light Weirdness! 200

On my way home this evening, my lovely 240 started acting up on me. While I driving down a smooth, quiet residential street, most of my dash warning lights suddenly lit up as if the engine stalled. The following lights are affected: Lambda-Sond Warning, Battery Charge Indicator, Brake Failure Lamp, Parking Brake Lamp and the Bulb Failure Lamp. Since they flashed on, all the lamps have been glowing and flickering slightly and intermittantly. Sometimes the lamps will glow brightly when I rev the engine, other times they will all go out, but the lights will never fully extinquish. It does not seem to matter whether I am driving on a rough road or not. I did notice that when I had the door open, the dome lamp would change in light output with increase in engine rpms.
I have looked in the Bentley book and all of these lamps are on instrument connection number 31. And one more piece that might help, I have been having problems keeping the two instrument cluster illumination bulbs lit. They have been winking out intermittantly, but I cannot find a loose connection at either the bulbs or the connector at the back of the cluster. The engine bay harness is a newer Volvo unit, but with the two brake warning lamps lit, I am dismissing this at the moment.

Has anyone had a circuit board in the cluster fail? What else could it be? With the dome lamp symptom, could I have a blown diode in the alternator? HELP!

Nick
