In my 95 940 wagon, the CR915 radio tuner section failed. The Alpine CD changer was still working, though sometimes it would fail to feed discs. I decided to put in an in-dash radio/CD.
I didn’t want to butcher the original wiring in the car, so I removed the socket from the back of the CR915 and soldered my harness from the new radio to it so that it would plug directly into the harness of the car.
So far, so good. Only one problem. I forgot that the CD changer eject is electric rather than mechanical. So, I now have 6 CDs in the changer that don’t eject. I can’t reinstall the CR915 to eject them because I have already removed its wiring socket.
Is there a mechanical “emergency” release on the changers? If not, I believe the catch for the cartridge is a black hook that I might release with something very thin. If I try that, does anyone know if I have to move the hood toward or away from the play head? If neither of those ideas are good, can anyone describe which pin in the harness needs to be made hot to make the electric eject work?
Thanks,
Charley
