Alternator not charging, tests good??? 140-160

'68 145, charging system long ago converted to later sytle bosch aternator with external regulator. ive got a new rebuilt alternator, a 6 year old regulator (tested good) and a new optima battery. good continuity between reg. and alternator, and between alternator and battery. good grounds all around, my alt. light is on and im getting 10.5v at my gauge and 11.5 at the battery high rpms have no effect. any thoughts? a mystery short somewhere, maybe rear door hinge wiring?
