Can too much boost blow injector seals? 200 1984

Continuation on the idle issue in my new turbo wagon...

I went through all the CIS diagnostics I felt I could do with my knowledge and tools at hand, and in the end.. couldn't find anything really wrong.. so finally, I just took the car to the mechanic..

I haven't got it back yet, so I don't know the full diagnostic report, but.. the one thing they did immediately find is leaky injector seals.. a simple vacuum leak, which was my very first thought from the get go..

the injectors (presumably seals too) are fairly new (as is the rest of the engine, having been completely rebuilt .40 over, about 30k miles ago).. When driving it, that boost gauge will go pretty deep into the red.. easily half way..

Can too much boost blow out injector seals? Or is it more likely the seals went bad from just sitting..

rebuild was in 1999 at 120k miles, and it got a fuel pump relay in 2004 at ~135k miles, now at 156k.. so, pretty consistent 3500 miles/year, but it may well have sat for a couple straight years in there somewhere... I don't know.

Is it possible for the wastegate to be plugged, or was it likely tweaked a little too much...?

Just wondering if I should see about looking into and/or adjusting the wastegate in hopes of avoiding future, possibly more dire... problems.
