Replace rear wheel bearing + seal 200 1988

I've had this sound coming from the rear, some days worse then others. It's directly connected to the speed of the axel, kind of like whiny power steering but it follows the speed of the axel.
A mechanic said it was the rear wheel bearings on both sides and would charge $650 to fix it... Well, that's money I don't have. Does it sound like a lot for that job? Anyways, it made me look into doing it myself. When it comes to tools a few are mentioned in the FAQ like "bearing press tool or special tool 5212" and " a cylindrical drift or tool 5243" but what are they and where can I get hold of them, can I use something else? If someone have pictures of them would also be very helpful.

Also, what do you think of going to a Upullrparts and take the axels out of another 240 with same transmission? There's no obvious oil leak just a little greasy on one dustshield facing the rotor so I don't think any seals are broken but would it be a good idea to do them anyways?

Any help very appreciated!

John
