Headlites on a 940 Sedan 900

is there a secret to getting the lens off of the headlite assembley of a 940 sedan? there are these little plastic cups that hold the adjusting screws and is there a way to keep them from breaking? drives me nuts trying to get the lens off to change them if they are broken or cracked.

any comments appreciated. Thanks
