I recently encountered a non-starting incident of my 240. The lights are all ok but upon switching on the ignition, there was not even a slight "tick" sound audible.
We tried connecting the starter directly to the battery, the starter cranked and the engine started!
We diagnosed the problem to the inhibitor/safety switch sending a "false" signal that the A/T was engaged in "Drive" mode.
If this is correct, how can I prevent this ocurrence from happening again? Does the inhibitor switch needs cleaning?
