88 740 wagon: engine stumbles in left turns 700

This is odd: When making a tight left, the engine on my non turbo 88 740 wagon sometimes stumbles badly. Stuttering, loss of power....for what seems like a long 7 or 8 seconds. Then it clears up.

It worries me, as I depend on the car for multiple commutes as a part-timer.

Any thoughts?
