940 instrument lights on after starting. 900 1993

This morning my daughter went out to start the 940 for the short trip to school and the instrument lights did not go out when the engine started. I thought that the ignition switch might be bad and tried to turn it back a little but that was not the problem. Anybody have a suggestion?
