As I reported in a previous post, my car's had upshifting trouble since I bought it. It was shifting fine from 1-2, but 2-3 and 3-OD required a throttle lift at the shift point. Otherwise, though, it was driving great and downshifting properly, so I assumed it needed a cable adjustment or maybe a solenoid.
I got in the car this afternoon to pick my daughter up from school, and about 3 blocks from the house the trans slipped badly going into 2nd, and refused any further attempts to shift. Trans fluid is clean and at the proper level, and the car's got a little over 128k on the clock. I turned around and parked her back in the driveway, and there she sits, two weeks to the day after I brought her home.
My initial inclination is just to plan on finding a used trans to swap in, because I don't have money lying around for a rebuild at this point. I guess I'm wondering if it's even worth investigating as being repairable, or if I'm better off just writing the current trans off as it is.
It's just disheartening, because I'd planned to make the wagon my daily driver, and feel like I've been a poor judge of character at this point. I'm no stranger to trans swaps, but it's not exactly a job I'm looking forward to doing. What a bummer.
Any thoughts/advice/consolation attempts are much appreciated.
