not really her fault after all? (or another reason to hate used car dealers) long 200

A few weeks ago I posted on here about having to swap a motor into my wife's fairly pristine '93 245, which showed little oil on the stick upon unloading it from the flatbed. This resulted in a lengthy discussion about the importance of checking one's oil in an old car, what a PITA it is to replace an engine, etc... well, she'd mentioned that she saw no lights on the dash prior to the "helicopter" sound that heralded her failure to proceed. After the motor replacement, I turned on the key and sure enough, no oil pressure lamp was illuminated with the other runnung lamps. Friday, I finlly took the time to investigate this and replace the blown bulb, and whattya know... I get the cluster out, reach behind it and the oil pressure bulb is GONE! Reinforcing my utter disdain for used car dealers. (I'm pretty sure this one has been through a dealer or two in it's 17 year history) So now I feel fortunate that this engine went for a year and a half. It sure would have been nice to have had some warning that it needed a motor job though.
