Hood Latch Challenges 200 1992

This thing is kicking my butt. Had damage to the front support for radiator, AC condenser. got a used one at the boneyard, sanded, painted and bolted it up.

Closed the hood and couldn't get it open again. Ended up unscrewing the piece with the spring on it in order to get the hood up.

How do i align and adjust this thing?
