Transmission/OD? Which one caused what (85 245) 200 1985

I'm trying to replace my OD still (...life put my Volvo fixing days on the back burner).

I have an m46

Quick synopsis:

OD stopped working, car acted like it was constantly in OD. Would hesitate, and not switch into OD. Then reverse wasn't working right, like it was slipping.

I first replaced the O-rings on the solenoid, and put it back in. I've forgotten if that made a difference right away, or was short lasting.

Next I replaced the OD with one I bought from someone, and it worked temporarily (for a day). I used the solenoid that came with it, and after a day it was showing the same symptoms as my original OD. I don't know if it's a bad solenoid, or the OD itself is dead (due to my car) or the tranny is shot or damaging the OD.

So today, after what seems to be forever, I got back into looking at my original OD. It is currently in 2 parts, and this part I never looked at because I assumed it was fine. But I just checked it, and a major part has a huge crack in it.

I can't seem to get a picture to load up on here right now so I'll link them.

I believe the part is # 44. My question is, is this a part broken by a transmission malfunction?
