Valve adjustments in the cold 120-130 1967

I am so booooored with this winter cold stuff, it hasn't hit 40F since Dec 1 in Minneapolis and our house is typically a few degrees colder than the airport.

My valves need adjusting. I read SwEm as a refresher, but nowhere does he say that the adjustment should be made on a warm engine or cold (34F in my garage). Should I just wait until May 1 when the ice on the garage floor melts, or could I run the engine for 10 minutes to warm the rods up?

I don't want to over tighten them.
