overdrive noise 900 1997

hi, i've got a 97 960 and i think i'm having some tranny problems. i hear a whining at about 80-100 km/h and after that the whining goes down.
at any other speeds below and at any rev's there's not whining at all which leads me to beleive it's the overdrive.
i've checked the tranny fluid and is fine. any other suggstions that i might be able to do or check? not really wanting to take the tranny out
