Hello: I'm interested in purchasing a used Volvo V70XC AWD. I currently have a 1980 Volvo 245 DL. I live in a rural area in NE USA. We get alot of snow and ice in the winters and I need a 4 wheel drive or AWD vehicle. I really would like to get another Volvo, but I'm not sure how well it will perform on snowy and icy roads. Neighbors in my area have Subaru's 4 wheel drives. I have a 750 ft driveway with a slight incline and I need a vehicle that will climb it with snow cover and have not any problems. I know the V70XC has extra maintenace requirements during the life of the car. I'm trying to justify the added expense versus purchasing a Subaru that should have lower maintenace costs. I would appreicate any honest opinions on justifying either vehicle.
