Thanx for all the input! Heres another. my paint guy removed the door handles to paint, this leads to other issues as repairing the raise/lower cable , most window channels being replaced and so on. Since the handles are off and in pieces I thought this would be the perfect time to replace the locks on both doors and the trunk. The passenger door lock went fine. I guess at some point in the past 45 yrs someone jerryrigged the push button(drivers side) with a large screw inside to make the door open. would anyone out there possibly have the guts for the door handle push button they would want to part with. or where I may locate one? thanx!
