There is a college kid on the FWD side of the board who could use a little guidance from someone in CT. His PS suddenly died, fluid level is good. Mechanic says there is metal in the fluid and the PS pump and rack need to be replaced.
Too much money for a starving college kid. He always fixed his 240, but is a little intimidated by the tight engine bay of the 850. He can get a rebuilt PS pump for less than $100, but doesn't know how to drain it. Haynes says special tool needed to remove lines from the pump and reservior. I haven't done it, so I cannot comment.
What he needs is a little moral support from a mechanic that has been there and done that.
