Blower Motor Replacement - 240 4dr sedan 1990 - 92,000 miles 200 1990

Have a question about some noises coming from the blower motor. For about a year I heard a ticking noise coming from the blower as it ran (the motor runs all the time even when the switch is off on the 1990 240). Yesterday I heard a low frequency constant noise. Assume that the bearings on the motor are gone and that the impellers are hitting the fan shroud. Taken car off the road and have it in the garage now. Questions are:

1- After reading all the posts on the subject on the board, I feel like it would be best to take the top of the dash off and repair the WW cables at the same time as the blower motor. Bentley says that I need to disarm the air bag before doing this. They say to disconnect the battery and pull the yellow plug under the seat. Can one of you fellows confirm that this is all that has to be done to handle the SRS?

2- Should I be thinking about the blower resistor since the whole thing will be apart also?
Thanks - Bob
