since it's spring, I'm finally coming around to repairing some winterdamage (the freezing cracked a headlight, and the salt messed. up the exhaust. While I was checking something under the bonnet I found that I have a missing belt.

Can someone tell me what it is? it's located (if you stand in front of your car, looking into the engine bay) on the right side of the engine. There are two things that look like they need belt running over it. the upper one does (and it looks like an alternator. is that correct?) the second one is below that one, and it doesn't have a belt running over it. It seems it needs one, but I don't have clue what it is, or what it does as apart from the speedo problem everything seems to work just fine.

If needed, I could submit a picture. Not sure how to do that though.
