Replacing rubber fuel hose from tank to main fuel pump (solved) 200 1983

This seems pretty simple in retrospect but I was a little mystified by it at first, so I thought I'd post what I found.

If you need to replace the large diameter supply fuel hose (or return hose, for that matter) on your 240--the one that goes from the tank to the main fuel pump--check the instructions under replacing the in-tank pump in Bentley. Bentley doesn't say much at all about the fuel hoses themselves, but if you look closely in other sections you'll notice a few words about removing hoses from the in-tank pump. Those are the hoses you want.

Basically all you need to do is pull up the floor (or unscrew it, if you have a wagon) in the trunk, and look for a little silver plate held in by two screws, with some wires coming out. That'll give you access to the fuel hoses (and in-tank pump, of course).

For replacement hose, your local auto parts store should have fuel hose in bulk. This isn't something you're likely to find at the usual online parts supply places--at least not under the 240 "fuel hoses" section. I also had to chop off the old hose clamps with bolt cutters (or just by wiggling back and forth with a pair of pliers) because they were completely rusted together.

Hope these notes are helpful to someone some day!
