Guys,
Now that you've helped me solve the alternator problem, I've got another one for you. AC has been inop on this vehicle for about a year or so, I had to replace the blower motor and just put in a new aux cooling fan. So I'm ready for it to work again. I can turn the outside face of the compressor clutch by hand, so I'm assuming the compressor isn't frozen up. When I turn the AC on and jumper the pressure switch (I know it's low on coolant, this vehicle has needed a refill about every year or so), the ecm speeds up the idle, and watching the clutch I see the outside face move about a 1/4 inch in toward the compressor, but it doesn't engage. So I think the clutch is bad. I checked on prices and it looks like it's about $200. For another $100 looks like I can get an aftermarket compressor with the clutch already on it. Have you guys used any of these, do you have any recommendations on who to get it from?
Thanks,
Jerry Barth
