Hi. Recently, while backing up on the mall, I saw the car's reflection on a window, and I had no brake lights. I have no idea how long I have driven without brake lamps; the dash's lamp out bulb hasn't gone on. Cruise doesn't work either, but all other lamps work ok. The FAQ and other posts suggest it might be the bulb integrity sensor relay, which I took out and re-soldered as many joints as I could (mine has three floors, making it hard to put the iron where you need it). Nothing. I don't want to buy a new relay, as they are $95@FCP.
Some time ago, my shiftlock mechanism was failing, so I removed the microswitch on the right side of the shifter, and shorted both wires going to it. Since then I can hear the solenoid every time I press the brake while in N, so I assume that the brake sensor behind the pedal is fine... Could I have messed something up in the shifter's area to make the brake lamps not work? As usual, all your help is highly appreciated.
Regard;
