My wife was complaining about a funny noise in her 1996 960 wagon. She said it was the front end. Took it out for a spin on a notorious bad road locally and could not find anything wrong with it.
So, she takes me on the road where it normally happens and there was the sound: more like scrape than anything else. Later inspection revealed the both front wheel liners had worn through where the edge of the tire hits it.
for now she is taking it slower on this road, but I am wondering if I need to fix it more permanently.
For starters the fender sits 26" above the road. Any of you out there who could measure this distance on your car for comparison? That will tell me if this one sits too low.
Looking forward to your ideas.
