I had an odd rattling sound from the front end, manifest when going over bumps. I disassembled virtually the entire suspension and everything was fine. It was not until I replaced the brake pads that I noticed the rebuilt calipers I had installed some time ago had virtually no lubricant left in the caliper slide pins. Once these were liberally lubed, the noise disappeared. Lesson: take apart the slide pins if you install new calipers and make sure they are lubed correctly with top quality synthetic brake grease.
