fuel pump?/intermediate shaft 200 1981

car died at stop light, wife was driving, she said it made no unusual sounds, just died, checked fuel and none comming from pump, pulled pump;lever and spring are all intact and I can "pump" manually, had some one turn over the engine while I looked in the slot to see if the intermediate shaft was turning and it isnt where should I start
