Is there any way to keep (rain) water out of the doors? 140-160

Recently updated the window scraper seals (and door seals) on my '72 145. I left the inside door panels off so I could see how well they performed. Still pretty damp in the door after a night of rain. The more I look at it, the more I wonder whether or not I could ever keep water out of there. I was considering putting some sound dampening material in the door, but I hesitate if it will just get soaked every time it rains.

Does anyone have any extra little tricks to keep it as dry as possible in there?
