For all of you in some past-postings back about removal of my control-arms for re-bushing... I finally succeeded. I finally just got aggressive with using a fork instead of the vice-like devices. With some pounding with a regular hammer and actual standing on the end of the fork-handle and light bouncing, they finally popped right out. I felt purdy-darned satisfied with that... like I was doin' some real mechanic's work here!!
So... now that my arms are out, I want to pretty them up real nice before re-assembly with new ball-joints. I'm debating whether to have them powder coated, or have them sand-blasted and then do the painting at home. I don't know how much extra it would be to p-coat them, but can I ask for opinions on whether this is worth the extra expense? Is the coating given all that much more durable and long-lasting than a thorough layering of multiple layers of a good spray can brand done at home? Is there some brand that would be super-durable and nearly comparable to p-coating?
Oh... and if anybody in the Portland-OR metro area could tip me off to a decent and inexpensive place to have cleaning and or sandblasting done on parts, I'd be much abligged.
Thanks all.
