Ok, so I FINALLY got the dang transmission on.
But I have some questions.
These questions are under the rule that I realize that there's a chance I could muck it up.
When putting in a manual transmission, shouldn't you not be able to turn the transmission if it's in gear? I don't have the drive line connected. I know if the car is in neutral, you should be able to spin the shaft but be able to stop it by holding onto it.
Caveat: The clutch cable is not connected.
2nd question:
As i was tighting the bolts for the starter (putting them in loosely) I bumped the clutch fork, and seemingly popped it off of it's spring loaded plug thing.
But I was able to force it back on, so it no longer moves up and down and now just back and forth (as it's supposed to). My question is, is there a way to check if the fork is back in it's proper location, without having to take the transmission off again?
A thousand thanks, and once I'm done with the half year fix, a million more.
