I'm prepping our '94 945T for a two-week vacation and have hit a snag with the spark plugs. We've had the car for three years and ok, I've never changed the plugs since it was serviced just before we bought it and we've put about 30k on it since then.
I can start to loosen the plugs but they are very tight in turning. Had the same problem with a couple of plugs on my old 740. Last thing I want to do is strip a thread in the aluminum head but it feels like the caked on, baked on oil is going to fight me all the way out.
What is the best method of removal? Once they're out I have the thread chasing tool to clean the holes in the head and I'll use a dab of anti-seize on the new ones. Remove them with the engine hot so the holes have expanded a bit? Use PBlaster on the plugs?
The car runs great but I know it's time for plugs.
Thanks,
Erwin Roman
