Weird noise-Tail shaft bushing? 900 1991

Just replaced the drive shaft center bearing and support (1991 945 SE Wagon). I now have a very noticeable sound coming from what appears to be the rear of the transmission near the tail shaft where the driveshaft mounts up. This noise is noticeable so I know I would have heard it if it was there prior to replacement of the center support & bearing. The noise usually, but not always begins when I apply the brakes. It almost sounds like something is loose or rattling around where the driveshaft goes inside the rear of the tranny. The sound can be very loud but is not always present. Very noticeable when exiting a highway and applying the brakes. I had it on the lift today and went through the brakes (frt & rr) as well as exhaust, frt & rr suspension, etc...nothing loose.
Anyone have some thoughts? Tranny seems to operate with no apparent problems.
Invoices show prior owner replaced detent cable 5K miles ago as well as tailshaft bushing & seal 16K miles ago.
All thoughts welcome
