steering wheel repair? 200

I recently bought a '92 245 that's in very good shape. The interior looks practically new, it doesn't even have the ubiquitous crack in the top of the dash. That said, there's a minor issue that's really bugging me. The top half of the steering wheel on this car is no longer attached to the metal core onto which it was molded. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but it actually makes driving this brick kind of unpleasant as the wheel feels all rubbery.
I'm thinking about injecting some sort of adhesive via a syringe needle inserted through the elastomer into the gap between it and the metal core in the hope that I can solve this. Has anyone had this problem or attempted a similar solution? Any recommendations on suitable glues? I was thinking something non-viscous like Super Glue(TM)might work well. I imagine I could just replace the wheel, but dealing with the airbag doesn't excite me. One worry I have about my current approach is that some epoxies or cyanoacrylate adhesives might attack whatever elastomer the wheel is made of and make things worse.

Any help would be appreciated...
