Best brands and Methods to install Engine Seals 200

Hello everyone, and thanks for your help in advance.

I am working on a 1991 240.

First, I am considering installing an Elring rear main seal from FCP groton. Is this a VERY BAD idea? Should i get the $35 seal from Tasca?

Relatedly, I have already replaced the front crank and intermediate shaft seals with elring seals. Are these going to leak? Tasca lists these seals for something like $120 each, which is insane.

Last, should I put anything on the OUTER surface of the Rear main seal, or should it be tapped in dry? I am aware that I should oil the inner surface that contacts the cam/crankshaft.

I am just doing the rear main seal in order to fix a leak to sell the car, and I already have the elring seals, but this car is really nice and I hope to sell it and make the new owner happy.

Again thanks so much.

Best,

RRG
