how to change gear shift cover?? 200 1991

I broke the plastic cover that covers the gear shifter (The shifter cover is the plastic piece that says PRND23). I found one on ebay.Question is how to I take it off and replace it. I see the two screws but how do I get teh Knob off to put the new one on? It is a 1991 automatic.
