960 A/C drain still not

Hello all, I am trying to figure out the A/C condensate drain in my '96 960. Nothing is coming out of the drain tube into the engine bay. I've taken the rubber tube off the bottom of the evapaorator pan and pushed wire through into the engine bay-no obstructions. There is no water coming out of the drain when I pull off the tube. I pushed a wire (tried 14 guage stranded, stripped and formed into a star or dandelion shape) way up into the drain in the bottom of the evaporator-got no trash and no water. There are water and mold stains beginning near the end of the panel under the glovebox lid-looks like water is or has been coming out there, but I see no cracks and no evidence of water currently. The air is pretty dry here now (for Atlanta anyway), so this may be hindering my troubleshooting. Anybody been here before? There are a couple of hex screws at the front (towards the rear of the car actually) of the evap housing. I hesitate to loosen them-may not help and could cause a leak.
Sorry for the long post,

sredwine car has 158K
