Replacing Air Filter on '91 240 200 1991

Sorry to ask this basic question..

I was trying to replace the air filter for the first time. I removed the two clamps at the top sides (2). However, I could not open it wide enough.

Can I force it to open (push toward the driver direction) further? It seems that the plastic tubes are so stiff that they just do want to open up more.

Or am I missing any easy know-how? Or are there anything at the bottom to un-hook?
