AW71 Speed-O Output 200 1983

I went to replace the rear output seal on my M46 in my '83 GLT and found out that the last time it was change, the output shaft and flange was goofed up and I can not get it back together. Sense the GLT is probably putting more power then M46 can handle and the clutch is worn I thought about putting in a AW71 that I have modify in it but I am not sure what to do about the speedo out put. I know that I can switch to a electric speedo but I don't want to do that and I do know that they put AW71 in some of the '81 and '85 but finding one of those is not an option. Can I just take the tail shaft and house from a per '86 AW70 and slap it on or am I just going to have to fix the M46?
