'74 144 steering box in a '72 145? 140-160

Does anyone know if this is possible? Going to help part out the 144 this weekend. My 145's box has been developing more and more slop lately. I've tried tightening the nut on the top a bit, no more than 1/8 of a turn or so, but that doesn't make much difference. I've checked for slop in the shaft to the steering wheel shaft, that seems good. It's making freeway driving kinda dicey, especially during lane changes.

Crap... I forgot to check and see if the 144 has power steering.
