Metallic Flakes in Coolant 900 1995

Hey Folks
95 944. Car runs fine and does not overheat. The car does lose a little coolant--takes about 2 months to go from the Max line to the Min line on the reservoir. I believe I have a small coolant leak between the 2nd and 3rd cylinder on the exhaust side of the engine. No coolant in oil and no oil in coolant.

Checked out my coolant today, and I noticed that there are these tiny, metallic looking flakes in the overflow tank. They almost look like glitter.

The rad, rad hoses, thermostat, heater hoses were changed about 2 years ago. I changed the water pump a little over 4 years ago with a Hepu.

I’m thinking that the water pump is beginning to die, since I can’t think of anything else that would produce these flakes.

Any thoughts?
