Hidden engine pressure build up 200 1984

So the other day my 240 started losing power to the engine and blowing oil out of the dipstick. The engine was struggling just to get up to 20 miles/hour and it felt like if i pushed it any harder, the engine would blow. So i replaced the oil filter and put in more oil but it's still having the same problems. I haven't come across this before and am stumped.
Any ideas?
