stumped on replacing 240 turn signal assembly 200 1993

I need to replace my 93 240 turn signal assembly. Two of the three plastic nuts that the retaining screws thread into are broken so it is secured with duct tape. I have a replacement, but aam mystified by how to remove this passenger's side assembly from the car! A "helpful" repair shop said that the existing just pulls out after the screws are removed, but I am not convinced. Is anyone willing to offer guidance?
