Hello, I recently bought an 1990 Volvo 740 Turbo, it had a bad in-tank fuel pump and faulty ECU. I had the pump and ecu changed (Fcpgroton for the pump), and it now runs however not all that well. The main pump underneath the drivers seat is pretty noisy at times, and sometimes when I'm turning on to a slight grade, or downgrade it will bog the car and I will loose power for a second, then it will regain and all is well.
I really have a sneaky suspicion that the in-tank pump is not working at all, and never really has since I had it changed at a local shop. Is there a quick way to tell? I also have a 90 740 Gl with the regina system, so I'm familiar with these cars.
I have pulled the fused labeled "in tank pump" while the car is running and it has absolutely no affect on the car (no drop in rpm or anything). Of course, when I pull the main pump fuse it shuts of completely. I also don't hear any noise coming from the tank(which I'm used to coming from the regina). I know when the mechanic installed the part he had trouble with some of the connection and had to grind away a spot to connect the ground.
Any help would be appreciated
