just letting people know about what they are getting into.
for my upcoming strut job i bought a set of said tools from midway auto to remove the 24mm nut on top. the cost is about 30 bucks shipped.
see image at http://www.performancetool.com/images/specialty/drivetrain/W83015.jpg
basically a large sleeve socket for the nut and an insert socket to hold the shaft still while you turn the nut with sleeve. seemed a tidy solution to the top nut.
well, out of the box i had two problems:
1) the center hole in the black sleeve is way too small for the other bits to fit though.
2) the socket that fits our 240 strut inserts is too small for the OEM inserts in my car AND KYB GR-2 that i plan to put in. it does not fit any of the 4 inserts i have.
a replacement from midway performed exactly the same with the same problems. solution: bore out the sleeve on a lathe, and take the dremel to the insert.
it might be a bad batch. but my advice is don't buy.
