hello all, i have a nice, fairly clean (rust free:)) volvo 740 wagon. it has the 2.3 non turbo and seems to be doing great for around 200k miles. now here is where it gets interesting.... this shell is rust free and i will be moving back to NH soon where i have access to a volvo with a 2.4 TD that was just rebuilt, but it was in new england and has been sitting in a field for a couple years(rusty) sooooooo i was wondering what would be involved in getting that 2.4TD to make its way over to my rust free shell. i am not a mechanic by trade, but have put a subaru motor into a vanagon, built some turbo vw's, swapped pistons/rods, fabricated exhausts, manifolds, ported heads etc..... so im not afraid of a bit of work, but what all would have to be swapped over? could i use the existing fuel tank? lines? are the transmissions different? aside from a short ownership of an 850 and 740 turbo this will be my first real volvo experience but i have heard that the volvo 2.4 TD is basically a 1.6 vw motor with a couple extra cylinders...... any ideas/suggestions??? thanks!
