Rear Poly bushing question 200

The IPD insructions say to put the assembled poly rear bushing into the special Volvo tool & install into the rear axle.But would this not do damage to the poly bushings as the tool was made to work with the stock type rear bushing given the presure involved ?
Why not just install the empty shells first & then install the bushings with a special tool made from long threaded stock & nuts & washers ? I find this to work very well installing bushings onto the trailing arms.
